Cookies

Last updated 17 June 2026

The Same Page uses as few cookies as it can. We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we don't build a profile of you. This page explains the little we do use.

One strictly-necessary cookie keeps you signed in to your own session. That's the only cookie the service sets. Our usage analytics are cookieless.

The session cookie

When you create or join a session, we set a single secure, httpOnly cookie that identifies which party you are in that session. It's how the service knows your private conversation is yours and keeps it separate from the other person's. The cookie is signed so it can't be tampered with, isn't readable by scripts, and is used only to run the session — not to track you across other sites.

This is a “strictly necessary” cookie: the service can't work without it, which is why it doesn't require a consent banner under UK and EU rules. It clears when the session is gone.

Analytics — without cookies

We measure basic, aggregate usage with Vercel Analytics, which is designed to be privacy-friendly and does not use cookies or store personally identifying information. It helps us understand whether the service is working, not who you are.

What we don't use

No advertising cookies, no third-party tracking or social-media cookies, and no cross-site profiling. We don't sell data or share it for advertising.

Managing cookies

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Because the session cookie is strictly necessary, blocking it will stop the service from working — you won't be able to stay signed in to a session. Blocking it has no effect on advertising, because we don't use any.

Changes

If we change how we use cookies, we'll update this page and its “last updated” date. Questions are welcome at contact@getonthesamepage.app.
